Quest'opera senza tempo in tre atti è diventata una delle opere più amate in tutto il mondo. È anche una delle opere più rappresentate all'Opera Nazionale Estone. Il libretto di Francesco Maria Piave è basato sul dramma di Alexandre Dumas "La dame aux camélias". L'opera fu pubblicata nel 1849 e messa in scena nel 1852. Giuseppe Verdi, che assistette alla prima, rimase così affascinato dalla commedia che scelse di basare la sua opera su di essa. La Traviata andò in scena l'anno successivo. È una commovente storia d'amore tormentata dalla moralità della società e dal passato di Violetta. La felicità effimera finisce in tragedia.
Entrate nel drammatico mondo operistico di Verdi ricreato da interpreti di alto livello a Tallinn.

Stage set, costumes and lighting were excellent, orchestra and choir were fine, some soloists had difficulties with their voices in the beginning of the first act but improved then and were very good in the second and third acts, where especially Aile Asszonyi and Jassi Zahharov gave excellent performance.
