Nella suggestiva atmosfera di Palazzo Barbarigo‐Minotto, la potenza drammatica dell'opera, interpretata da grandi cantanti e musicisti, si dispiega a lume di candela. L'Opera è uno spettacolo itinerante e ogni atto è ambientato in una diversa sala di uno dei più affascinanti palazzi veneziani.
Palazzo Barbarigo‐Minotto fu costruito intorno al XV secolo come palazzo nobiliare affacciato sul Canal Grande a Venezia. Fu impreziosito da bellissime opere di famosi artisti del Settecento. E' qui che le opere di Francesco Fontebasso, Giambattista Tiepolo, Girolamo Mingozzi e lo stuccatore Tencalla, perfettamente conservate, possono ancora essere visitate da ammiratori e intellettuali. L'edificio è composto da tre sale sul lato del Canal Grande e altre tre sale sul lato di Rio Zaguri. In particolare, l'interno è caratterizzato da una Cappella nobiliare seicentesca con pavimenti Luigi XIV in legni pregiati come l'olmo, intarsi di radica d'ulivo e altri. Inoltre, Palazzo Barbarigo‐Minotto conserva porte Luigi XIV ricoperte da cartelle in legno di noce con maniglie in bronzo a forma di foglia di vite e pavimenti dettagliati provenienti sia dalla terrazza veneziana che dal pastello.
Questo nobile edificio veneziano ospita importanti spettacoli lirici durante l'anno, come il melodramma italiano ''La Traviata''.
Rigoletto è un intenso dramma di passione, tradimento, amore filiale e vendetta. Il tema centrale di questa tragedia è la maledizione che scatena l'inarrestabile e tragica caduta di Rigoletto: 'Tutto il soggetto è in quella maledizione, che diventa anche morale' (G. Verdi).
Il primo atto dell'opera è ambientato nella Sala del Tiepolo, dove i meravigliosi costumi di Anthony Knight, ispirati agli stili del XVIII secolo, sposano perfettamente il sontuoso arredamento barocco del Palazzo.
La storia di Rigoletto si sviluppa attraverso le sale del Palazzo dove le luci delle candele creano gli effetti di controluce di un dipinto di Caravaggio, esaltando la drammaticità dell'Opera.
Durante l'intervallo dello spettacolo e circondati dalla magica cornice che si affaccia sul Canal Grande, Musica a Palazzo vi offre un bicchiere di Prosecco, bibite e liquori pregiati.

Sadly the description over‐promises and under‐delivers enormously. The description of the performance "set in one of the most fascinating Venetian palaces" allows one to think that the setting will be opulent, beautiful, palatial even; that could not be further from the truth! The "palace", if indeed that's what it is, is far from palatial. It's a run‐down house with little glamour or even comfort to offer the paying public. Instead, dressed befitting to the splendour one is expecting, one finds oneself in a cold, unwelcoming foyer, waiting in line for the doors to open (well, a cord to be unhooked by a shambolically dressed lad actually). When we reach the top of the stairs and into the main room of the house we are requested to take our seats in the room "down the end on the right" where we were met with about 70 wooden chairs to choose our seat from, as if in a school hall, in rows of 10 or less, a couple of small sofas, a piano and two chairs for the orchestra. Almost all of the audience sat down, looking around the room in bewilderment, each wondering if they'd been part of a live audience joke. To be honest, once we'd all realised that this was it, the shock turned to nervous laughter, hoping that the next couple to walk in dressed to the nines would also make the same contorted ignominious faces and quickly shuffling themselves along to an empty seat so as not to bring further attention to themselves. Come the performance, well, I can say that this was far from operatic. The cast and performance was nothing more than amateur dramatics; one of the characters even shouting rather than signing his lines. Upon the conclusion of the first act, and each thereafter, the audience is requested to move rooms too, which is somewhat bizarre, but hey, by that time nothing was going to surprise us. So, as you can probably determine, we'll not be rushing back any time soon. Save your money, dress up at home and watch The Snowman for the 27th time and marvel at the splendour of a teenage Aled Jones singing Walking in the Air; you'll be grateful you did, I promise ;-)

Bonjour, cela fait 4 ou 5 fois que nous assistons à une représentation de Musica Palazio. Ce sont des moments musicaux extraordinaires, d'une beauté et d'une présence hors norme, sans parler de la classe des chanteurs et musicien, et de la beauté du lieu. Je ne peux que remercier les chanteurs, musiciens et l'association. Nous reviendrons pour d'autres représentations, c'était d'ailleurs hier 26 décembre le principal motif de notre visite à Venisr
