Turandot at Arena di Verona Opera Festival 2026

Mantieni la calma mentre la principessa di ghiaccio di Puccini reclama quelle dei suoi pretendenti! La sontuosa produzione di Franco Zeffirelli del capolavoro tardivo di Puccini riempie l'Arena di Verona con l'atmosfera dell'antica Pechino.
"Nessuno dormirà", per citare le parole dell'aria più famosa dell'opera, Nessun dorma di Calaf, mentre l'oscurità cala sull'antico anfiteatro e migliaia di candele vengono accese, creando un'atmosfera magica che si abbina alla luminosa partitura di Puccini.
"Turandot è l'ultima opera di Puccini, rimasta incompiuta al momento della sua morte nel 1924. L'opera fu completata da Franco Alfano, utilizzando gli schizzi e le bozze di Puccini, anche se a volte vengono rappresentate altre versioni. Come in "Madama Butterfly", il compositore esplora la tonalità orientale, sia nella musica che nella trama, riflettendo un interesse duraturo per l'esotismo che ha affascinato l'Europa occidentale tra la fine del XIX e l'inizio del XX secolo. La trama è basata sulla storia della fredda e spietata principessa Turandot tratta dal libro persiano "Il libro dei mille e un giorno". La tragica storia di amore e perdita fu rappresentata per la prima volta a Milano nel 1926, dove l'opera fu eseguita nella sua versione incompiuta in onore del compositore.
Atto 1
La Città Proibita a Pechino, in Cina. La principessa Turandot, una donna di grande bellezza, ma dal cuore freddo come il ghiaccio, pone tre indovinelli ai suoi pretendenti. Chi non risponde correttamente viene condannato a morte. L'esecuzione di un principe fallito infiamma gli animi della folla. Tra la folla si trova Timur, il re sconfitto di Tartaria. Il vecchio re incontra nuovamente suo figlio, il principe Calaf, che non vedeva da tempo. Calaf si innamora a prima vista di Turandot e giura che risponderà ai suoi tre indovinelli. Liu, la schiava di Timur, cerca di fermare la sua risoluzione avventata, ma la sua determinazione si rafforza.
Atto 2
Turandot appare e inizia a porre a Calaf i suoi tre indovinelli, che Calaf riesce a risolvere. Turandot è furiosa e rifiuta di sposarlo. Calaf propone uno scambio: se Turandot riuscirà a scoprire il suo nome prima dell'alba, lui rinuncerà alla sua vita.
Atto 3
Turandot ordina che nessuno possa dormire finché qualcuno non scoprirà il nome del misterioso principe. Liu viene catturata e torturata. Turandot chiede a Liu perché si rifiuta di rivelare il suo nome. Liu risponde che il suo amore per Calaf le dà forza e si toglie la vita.
Turandot rimane sola ad affrontare Calaf. Calaf rivela il proprio nome. All'alba, Turandot proclama la sua vittoria. Annuncia alla folla: "Il suo nome è… Amore". Turandot e Calaf si sposano.

the voices of the characters are not loud enough sometimes, not the choirs. Music was perfect. The intermissions are not long enough for the huge public. Perhaps by 5 or 10 minutes more. Thank and congratulations

Einfach fantastisch. Sehr gute Organisation. Tolle Schow, Atmosphäre. Ich würde beim nächsten Mal preiswertere Sitze nehmen auf den Steinen und ein Kissen mitnehmen. Unsere Sitze waren super unbequem und eng.

Es war sehr schön , nur der Platz an den Klappstühlen ist für 2.5 stunden ein ne Zumutung! Für 100€ hätte ich etwas mehr platz erwartet

Fabulous venue. I went to Aida about thirty years ago in the cheap seats and returned with wife and daughter to the stalls for Turandot. More comfortable and even more soectacular. I hope it's less than thirty years for the next visit!

Es ist ein phantastisches Erlebnis. Atmosphäre in der Arena, das grandiose Bühnenbild mit einer Ausstattung, die begeistert Die Qualität der Solisten, vor allem auch des Chores und des Orchesters waren eine Freude. Alles in allem, sehr zu empfehlen!

spectacle grandiose, mise en scène superbe ! un seul bémol : dommage que les agents des arènes ne fassent pas respecter l interdiction de prendre des photos ou filmer pendant le spectacle. Nous avons été vraiment gênés pas la lumière des téléphones portables pendant le spectacle … certaines personnes préfèrent voir le spectacle à travers un écran …. c est dommage pour eux et gênant pour les autres …malgré tout , nous ne regrettons pas d'être venus d'Aix en Provence juste pour voir cet opéra!!!!
