Sir John Eliot Gardiner conducts St Matthew Passion

Sir John Eliot Gardiner literally grew up with Bach. In his parents' home was one of the two famous paintings in which the composer is portrayed. To this day, Gardiner is fascinated with Bach. Recently he published a book in which he attempts to get a hold on Bach as a person and musician.

Today Gardiner conducts one of Bach's most beloved works: the St. Matthew Passion. He will be joined by the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir at the Concertgebouw.
