Italian flautist Massimo Mercelli inhabits a special musical universe which has inspired composers as diverse in style as Philip Glass and Krysztof Penderecki. His great model, Jean‐Pierre Rampal, has also been keen to comment favourably on their cooperation. The programme of his concert with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra features true rarities, including a composition each by those two giants of Italian film music, Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota.
