Champion contemporary music and challenge the status quo with grand maestro Pierre Boulez. Presented here are works by Manoury, Harvey, and Schönberg performed by the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and soprano Deborah Polaski.

"Sound & Fury" is one of Boulez's cherished works. Commissioned by the Cleveland and Chicago orchestras, it was presented to him as a birthday present.

"Speakings" by Jonathan Harvey was conceived for the orchestra and electronic instruments and calls the relationship between music and lyrics into question.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Ircam‐Centre Pompidou.
