Béjart Ballet Lausanne: Peralada Festival 2015

Lo spettacolo

The Béjart Ballet Lausanne opens the Peralada Festival 2015 with a programme full of tradition and modernity.

This year's Festival will be opened by one of Peralada's legendary dance companies: the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, returning to Spain with Gil Roman as its artistic director and championing Béjart's legacy. Maurice Béjart is indisputably one of the most important names in twentieth‐century dance. His ability to connect with audiences through a company true to his style and captivating technique. Eight years after his death, the company is back led by its choreographer and director Gil Roman to present a two‐day mixed programme in Peralada with Béjart classics, including Bolero, the Seven Greek Dances together with newly created dances by Gil Román, such as Kyôday.

The focus of these ballet evenings is one of tribute to the dancer and choreographer Tony Fabre, with his choreography Histoire d’Eux and Gil Roman's homage to Tony, entitled 3 danses pour Tony which has never been seen in Spain. Fabre, formerly director of the Compañía Nacional de Danza Juvenil [CND2] and lead dancer in works by Nacho Duato, died in Madrid aged 49 in 2013, and had had a close relationship with Béjart and his company. Two evenings of strength, technique, discipline and inspiration from the best dance in Europe. Tradition and the avant‐garde to open the Festival.
