A Church cantata from the German master, and world‐famous Requiem by Fauré.

Gabriel Fauré wrote his popular Requiem in honour of his father, while his Cantique de Jean Racine won a student prize earlier in his life.

The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Choir and soloists pair these French works with Bach's Cantata 58 "Ach Gott, wie manches Herzeleid". Leader Gordan Nikolić plays the Air on a G string and the famous Chaconne from the Partita for solo violin in D minor, which may contain hidden hymn tunes.
