La fiaba popolare russa di Petrushka, un burattino animato da un soffio di vitalità ed emozioni, si intreccia con Siegfried e L'arbre des songes (L'albero dei sogni) di Wagner, il Concerto per violino e orchestra di Henri Dutilleux dedicato a Isaac Stern ed eseguito dal talentuoso violinista svizzero Sebastian Bohren. Il concerto di Dutilleux del 1985 fonde il solista con l'ambiente orchestrale, mentre Waldweben di Wagner evoca l'incantevole foresta dove Siegfried trova rifugio nel secondo atto dell'opera. La profonda esperienza di Jac van Steen guiderà il pubblico in questo viaggio onirico.
