Indulge in an evening of music on a grand scale. Semyon Bychkov renews his association with the Labèque sisters for a rare performance of Bruch's 'Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra'.

Composed in the unusual key of A flat minor for another pair of pianist sisters, the concerto was lost for the better part of fifty years, before eventually being rediscovered and restored to the repertoire. Shostakovich' Fifth Symphony, in contrast, was an instant hit at its premiere, serving to rehabilitate the disgraced composer to Soviet favor, and has remained an integral part of the symphonic repertoire ever since.
