Composer Festival HK Gruber: Inauguration
Sobre el espectáculo
Allow yourself to become lost in the imaginative world of HK Gruber — double bassist, composer, conductor, singer, and a founder of what has become known as the 'Third Viennese School'.
Sakari Oramo conducts the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic in two of Gruber's own works — the Piano Concerto, played by its dedicatee, Emanuel Ax, and 'Dancing in the Dark' — as well as works by key influences on Gruber's style. Stravinsky's 'Symphony in Three Movements', turbulent and expressive, integrates the piano into the orchestra, while Gruber's reworking of Johann Strauss II's Perpetuum Mobile reflects the central role Vienna, with its rich musical history, has played in the composer's style and development.
