Originally founded in the 7th century, St. Carthage's Cathedral has an aura of peace and serenity. It has a graceful spire, and the interior has some Celtic tombstones and a unique 16th Century monument of the McGrath family.

Lismore is located in the western half of County Waterford. It can be accessed by train, bus or car.


There are Bus Éireann (051-879 000) services in both directions between Lismore and Dungarvan (€5.10, 30 minutes) via Cappoquin on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, and a Sunday bus to Dublin (4½ hours) at 3.45pm. On Friday there are buses to Waterford (€12, 1¼ hours) at 5.40pm and Cork (1¼ hours) at 9.50am. Cork is also served on Sunday at 6.20pm except in July and August. Buses stop outside O’Dowd’s on West St.

Situated in beautiful County Waterford in Southern Ireland, the Historic town of Lismore is well sign posted on the N72, the main route to Killarney via the picturesque Blackwater Valley. The town is 30 minutes drive from Dungarvan the county town, 45 minutes drive from Midleton and 60 minutes drive from both Waterford and Cork Cities.
