Jahrhunderts gab es für Salzburg mit der Gründung der Festspiele einen neuen Impuls, dessen Wirkung auf das kulturelle Leben in der Stadt noch heute ungebrochen ist. Die Festspiele waren und sind die Initiatoren für ein reiches Kulturleben in der Stadt.
