Im Jahr 1870 komponierte Richard Wagner ein bezauberndes Instrumentalstück, Siegfried‐Idylle, für 13 Instrumente als Geburtstagsgeschenk für seine Frau Cosima, die kurz zuvor ihren geliebten Sohn Siegfried zur Welt gebracht hatte. Die Uraufführung wurde als Überraschung inszeniert, als Cosima am Weihnachtsmorgen in ihrer Familienvilla in Tribschen bei Luzern erwachte. Während die Idylle eine zarte und emotionale Intimität vermittelt, wird sie auf faszinierende Weise mit einem kontrastierenden Werk gepaart: Bruckners Siebter Symphonie, die großartig und feierlich ist und mit ihrem majestätischen Klang und der spirituellen Kraft, die sie ausstrahlt, zu fesseln vermag.

| Orchester: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
