The Norwegian cellist Truls Mørk is an experienced interpreter of French music. He will play the Cello Concerto No. 1 by Saint‐Saëns, a work that exudes balance, clarity, and technical mastery. This is followed by Brahms's Second Symphony, presented by the French conductor Louis Langrée. This symphony is often described as a pastoral idyll, but is not, according to the composer himself, entirely free of sorrow and melancholy.
