Così fan Tutte: Dijon Opera

Lo spettacolo

For the first time, the Dijon Opera’s pit welcomes Christophe Rousset and his Talens Lyriques, on period instruments and with their approach to authentic performance practice, for this production of Mozart's Così fan Tutte. The staging is by Marcial di Fonzo Bo, enfant terrible of stage production, whose use of masks and cross‐dressing are legend.

The third masterpiece from the collaboration between Mozart and librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte after Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, Così long suffered from its subject matter, which was considered improper and implausible, and not dignified for the sublime music of Mozart. And yet, as is the case for a whole tradition of 18th century literature (Marivaux, for example), the implausibility of the plot serves only to highlight the intermittent veracity of the human heart that it thus reveals.
