In the concert "Music Reflections of the Russian Rituals", the Choir of the Russian State Capella will perform works by Stravinsky and Rachmaninov under the baton of Valery Polyansky.

In a programme of two outstanding musical experiences, the rarely performed Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky upholds the Russian tradition in a compelling fusion of the archaic and the neo‐classicist, idiosyncratically combining a mixed choir, four soloists, four pianos and seventeen percussion instruments. It is through clichés, proverbs and customs that the piece addresses the Russian wedding rituals, where popular habits are embedded in the Russian Orthodox rituals. Featuring music of the prayer ceremony before a religious holiday, the All‐Night Vigil is the finest a capella work by Sergey Rachmaninov and one of the greatest musical achievements of the Russian Orthodox Church.
