The chamber music season of the Auditori de Barcelona features a variety of excellent ensembles.

The Quartet Casals performs the third quartet of Dmitri Shostakovich, the Russian composer’s own favourite. Shostakovich wrote the work as a reflection on the Second World War, which had just ended. The final movement leaves the definitive question unanswered : Why? It is accompanied on the programme by one of Mozart’s “Haydn” Quartets, and by Beethoven's mature chamber music composition, to which the composer from Bonn devoted the last years of his life.

The Quartet Casals offers an emotionally powerful programme full of contrasts, at the Auditori in Barcelona.
