Charles Gounod's Faust
О событии
Charles Gounod's "Faust, the man who sold his soul to the Devil" will be performed in a new production at the Finnish National Opera this season.
Faust, tired of his life, is prepared to sell his soul to the Devil to regain his youth. But a Devil‐assisted youth can only end in disaster. Faust seduces Marguerite but kills her brother and drives her to her ruin.
The story of Faust and the Devil is an ancient one, and it inspired Charles Gounod to write several memorable melodies, such as the scintillating Jewel Song for Marguerite. No wonder, then, that Faust was for a long time the most frequently performed opera in the world.
Performed in French, with surtitles in Finnish and English.
Duration c. 3 h 20 min, 1 intermission.
