The Phantom of the Opera — the stuff musical dreams are made of!
The story of the Phantom of the Opera undoubtedly ranks amongst the greatest musical themes ever.
Back in 1911, the author of the novel, Gaston Leroux, certainly would not have dreamt that his bestseller would go on to make him immortal on the music stage and on the silver screen. In the meantime, his novel has been adapted in various versions for the stage, including in the USA by Ken Hill and Kopit/Yeston as well as in London by the successful composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, who, with his West End premiere in 1986, launched the Phantom's worldwide march to fame and glory. Since then, more than 100 million spectators have made the Phantom of the Opera the most successful musical theme of all times.

Now, almost 20 years after the London premiere 'The Phantom of the Opera' is returning to Europe's leading music stages and magnificent open‐air arenas in a contemporary, extravagant, highly expressive new production featuring a star cast.

In terms of its contents, the musical is based more closely than the previous versions on the storyline from Gaston Leroux's bestseller and highlights the rivalry between the Phantom ('You must love me, Christine') and Christine's admirer Count Raoul de Chagny ('I know who I love, now I want to know who I must hate') as well as Christine's plight of being torn between her career and her true love ('My mind belongs to the Angel of Music, my heart belongs to Raoul').
