Schäfer, Harding & Filarmonica della Scala: Grafenegg Summer Festival

The orchestra of Milan’s La Scala can look back over a rich tradition of opera and concert performances and is considered one of the finest ensembles in Europe. Under the direction of Daniel Harding, the top Italian orchestra opens its first concert at the Grafenegg Festival with a greeting from its native country, before going on to present works by Richard Strauss – celebrating his anniversary year – and Gustav Mahler.

The «Four last songs» by Strauss are sung by soprano Christine Schäfer, who returns to Grafenegg following her previous success in 2008.
