Princess Salome lives in the court of her mother Herodia and her step‐father Herod. When the prophet Jochanaan calls to her from his prison cell she projects her sensual desires on him. Jochanaan, though, cannot be tempted by the pleasures of the world. Therefore, Salome decides that if she can't have him she will have his head on a platter.
