Lugansky, Temirkanov & St. Petersburg Philharmonic: Grafenegg Summer Festival

О событии

The oldest and one of the most renowned orchestras in Russia, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic is giving its debut in Grafenegg under the direction of its long‐standing Chief Conductor Yuri Temirkanov. The programme includes Russian works that unmistakably reflect the country’s soul.

Tenacity, self‐belief and triumph over adversity are to be found in both Rachmaninov and Shostakovich. Appearing as guest soloist is pianist Nikolai Lugansky, one of the leading performers of Romantic piano music. Symphony No. 10 by Dmitri Shostakovich, whose works were premiered by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, will complete this Grafenegg debut by an orchestra rich in tradition.
