Mozart composed the quartet KV 169 at the age of 17 after his return from Italy. The 2nd string quartet by Szymanowski was composed in 1927 at the suggestion of the Musical Fund Society Philadelphia. Antonín Dvořáks The ninth quartet completes the programme — it is dedicated to Johannes Brahms, who promoted Dvořák for his publisher and helped him to his international breakthrough.
