Vierne, Samazeuilh & Franck: Manfred Quartet & Claire Désert

О событии

The famed Manfred Quartet, joined by brilliant pianist Claire Désert, presents lovely works of three French composers who flourished in the shadows of the great figures of the early twentieth century.

César Franck's Quintet for piano and strings, marked by dramatic intensity, complex structure, and diversity of expression, was the first of a new movement of truly French chamber music. Franck's student, Vierne, was among the many composers influenced by his grand style. Be among the first to rediscover the striking quartet of Gustave Samazeuilh, a little‐known composer who died in 1967 and may well provide the missing link between Franck and the audacious colors and rhythms of Debussy.
