Opera de Montreal brings Verdi's beloved opera trilogy to a close with the timeless classic La Traviata in 2012. Myrtò Papatanasiu leads a spectacular European cast in this passionate story of love, honor, despair and tragedy.

After the successful realization of Rigoletto in 2010 and Il trovatore in 2011, the Opéra de Montréal concludes its presentation of Verdi’s “popular trilogy.” This frequently performed worldwide classic draws its inspiration from La Dame aux camélias.

Violetta, a renowned courtesan, is in love with Alfredo, a young and honorable man from a good family. Alfredo’s father convinces Violetta to leave Alfredo for the sake of family honour… Suffering from consumption and despairing, Violetta accepts her bitter end.

Performed in Italian with English and French surtitles.
