Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue & Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra at the Concertgebouw
О событии
The great American composers eagerly absorbed all the best from the great late‐Romantics, while adding their own experience to it. The result was music of big emotion conveyed in swinging rhythms, from Bernstein's rousing 'Chichester Psalms' to Gershwin's iconic 'Rhapsody in Blue'.
Closing out this program at the Concertgebouw is Strauss' powerful 'Also Sprach Zarathustra', a work that, for many Americans, importantly paved the way for the typical 'Hollywood' movie sound.
