The historic center of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site. The picturesque city is an important cultural centre, especially for humanist discipline.
The second of July and the sixteenth of August are the dates in which the 'Palio' is held. The Palio is a traditional horse race which is conducted over a set course throughout the city each year. This event is attended by many tourists, and is widely televised.

Siena & Tuscany
Our first stop will be in Siena which with its medieval monuments and art treasures is considered a world heritage site by UNESCO. We'll start our walk from the Basilica of San Domenico, we'll continue to the panoramic viewpoint over the ancient city, next we'll stop at the house and sanctuary of Santa Caterina, to reach the square with the Duomo and the medieval hospital of Santa Maria della Scala. Piazza del Campo with Fonte Gaia and Torre del Mangia will be the next stop for more photo ops. On our way back to the car we'll see the beautifull Palazzo Tolomei and Palazzo Salimbeni. After Siena, we'll go back to the countryside. We'll enjoy an authentic Tuscan lunch in the medieval castle of Monteriggioni. After a short shopping and relax time, we'll enjoy a wonderful wine tasting in a winery in the Chianti area. On our way back to Florence we'll stop at Piazzale Michelangelo, the most romantic panoramic viewpoint of the city.
