Admire three exceptional singers in a touching and powerful production of Benjamin Britten's masterwork by Japanese director Yoshi Oida, onstage of the Opéra de Lyon.
Britten was a pacifist, traumatized by his own first‐hand experience of the war. He created his War Requiem as a poignant hymn to peace. The composition is set on poems by Wilfred Owen, who tragically died during the First World War, interspersed with traditional Latin texts.
