You will learn of the legends around some of the most iconic locations in Winchester. You will get to know notable characters such a Licoricia of Winchester of the stories of many bishops that work hard to give the city its hard earned reputation. And of course, you will dive into the Anglo‐Saxon past following the footsteps of King Alfred of Wessex. It is not every day that you visit the ancient capital of the kingdom with a medieval historian! *Although Lillian delivers the majority of the tours the team has grown since 2021. Prices Person (All ages): £17 Duration Approximately 3 Hours About An evening of performance, laughs, and great pubs with an Actor/Comedian. We will meet inside The Westgate Pub! Our first stop will be the aptly named Westgate, the 12th Century gateway to Winchester. Then we will see The Great Hall and hear of the Legend of King Arthur. Then we will walk the High Street, before arriving at the world‐famous, Winchester Cathedral. Here will begin our discussion of the lady who left her mark on Winchester and the World‐Jane Austen. Our second pub stop will be The Eclipse Inn. After we will walk the banks of the River Itchen which inspired the works of poet John Keats. And finally we will see the somber Jane Austen House. Saving the best for last we will end our walk at The Wykeham Arms.
