Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Dance: Puz/zle
Sobre o Evento
Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is considered one of the most interesting choreographers in the world, his excursions in crossing the borders of dance and his fascinating handling of music in his work make him an explorer of art and life. In his new work Puz/zel, he attemps to solve the puzzle of human relationships, the morphology of the body as well as elusive mysteries such as those of traditionally inspired music.
Together with the grand Corsican vocal group A Filetta and the Libanese singer Fadia El Hage, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui shows how a song or composition can have various roots — religious and secular, Christian and Islam — and to what extent the traditions that we casually refer to as European or Oriental exist: not as clear cut as we assume.
The düsseldorf festival! — formerly known as the altstadtherbst kulturfestival — presents in its 22nd edition a variety of classical music, contemporary dance and music, and sacred music.
The Hilliard Ensemble, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's Dance Company, Vokalensemble Ars Cantandi, or the Smith Quartet are only a few international artists to be named.
