Rite of Spring: Orchestre de Paris & Paavo Järvi

Sobre o Evento

Paavo Järvi, Christian Tetzlaff, and the Orchestre de Paris offer a rousing musical experience with this multi‐faceted program at Salle Pleyel in Paris.

The first part of the concert features a reduced orchestra, appropriate for both Mozart's Violin Concert and Ravel's "Tombeau de Couperin", an homage to French art and to his friends lost at the front in World War I. Christian Tetzlaff will perform Mozart's seldom heard Third Violin Concerto, and he closes the first half of the program with a work by Henri Dutilleux, the most prominent French composer of our time.

For the second half of the concert, Paavo Järvi conducts the decisive work for 20th century music history: Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring". The work, with its pulsating rhythms and echoes of a primitive world, was originally composed for the Russian Ballet in Paris in 1913.
