Nott, Urmana & Bamberg Symphony: Strauss & Mahler, Salle Pleyel
Sobre o Evento
The members of the Bamberg Symphony have a very special relationship with the music of Mahler; they are particularly renowned for their interpretations of his works. Under the direction of Jonathan Nott, their principal conductor since 2000, they will perform the First Symphony (premiered in Budapest in 1889) at the Salle Pleyel.
Completing the program will be Strauss’s Don Juan, an exact contemporary of the Shostakovich symphony, and the four Lieder, op. 27, that Strauss wrote on the occasion of his own marriage. The dramatic Wagnerian soprano Violeta Urmana will join the Bamberg Symphony for these luxuriant songs.
