Moiseyev Dance Company: Budapest Spring Festival
Sobre o Evento
Igor Moiseyev’s world‐famous dance company will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2012. To honour the master who died in 2007 at the age of 101, as well the legendary decades, they will tour a jubilee production, which they will also bring to Budapest.
Moiseyev made an individual blend of folk dance and classic ballet, and created an original marriage of choreography that emphasises the plot and a spectacular revue that is rich in acrobatic elements. The company has awed audiences worldwide with performances of an overwhelming dynamism.
A unique genre, staged folk dance called for dancers of special abilities and training, willing to devote a lot of work and practice to the production, so Moiseyev established a studio in 1943 to ensure access to fresh talent. It has always been a form of distinction to be a member of the company, which has produced nearly 300 shows. Its unique style has influenced the work of many a by now world‐famous dancer, such as Michael Flatley or Mustafa Erdogan of Turkey. Always thoroughly prepared, the Moiseyev Company has never ceased to dazzle its audiences with the harmony of the rich choreography, the virtuoso performance, the music, and the sumptuous, stylized folk costumes. During more than 160 tours abroad, the company has performed in more than 60 countries. Since their first appearance in Budapest in 1946, they have visited Hungary on twelve occasions, the last time in 2009.
