Jacobs & B'Rock: Handel's Orlando (concert version)

Sobre o Evento

'What particularly pleases me about Orlando,' declared René Jacobs in 2012,'is that, in comparison with the composer's 40 or so other Italian operas, this work offers a lot of new music. We know, after all, that Handel was a master of borrowing musical ideas to later recycle and transform them completely.'

Orlando was premiered in London in 1733 with an anonymous libretto inspired by the Italian poet Ariosto. A soldier in Charlemagne's army, Orlando falls hopelessly in love with the pagan princess Angelica, whose heart belongs to Medoro. Crazed with pain, only the art of Zoroastro can restore Orlando to reason. Share in the suspense as master musicians tell the tale of Orlando and the master magician Zoroastro…
