Il primo omicidio, overo Cain (in concert): Theater an der Wien
Sobre o Evento
Scarlatti created an exceptional muscial realization of the Cain and Abel story from the old testament.
Adam and Eve bewail their sin and the loss of Paradise. Adam tries to console his wife and promises to sacrifice a lamb. Cain, as the first born son, wants this honor for himself. It is the first time he thinks of homicide. While working on the field he hears the voice of Lucifer confirming his thoughts. He kills his brother. God chides him and he repents. In the end Abel's voice reports of the heavenly bliss and God's voice promises salvation.
