Folk music underlies both works on this program at the Concertgebouw. Bartók's Third Piano Concerto takes inspiration from Hungarian folk music, while Mahler's First Symphony includes a somber version of "Frère Jacques", as well as elements of Austrian folk dance and Bohemian street music.

French pianist Hélène Grimaud is the soloist of this performance of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, with Yannick Nézet‐Séguin conducting.
