Beethoven uses the sound of the trumpet as a symbol of freedom in his Leonore Overture. It is this sound that connects Beethoven to Brett Dean. Håkan Hardenberger performs Dean's Trumpet Concerto that the Composer in Residence wrote for the Grafenegg Festival. Brahms' Symphony No.1 is also featured on the program of the Tonkünstler‐Orchestra under the baton of John Storgårds.

The Grafenegg Festival presents a top‐class program of concerts with renowned orchestras, conductors and international star‐soloists. This year, enjoy a series of concerts including musical journeys to South America, swing music, highlights of the romantic period and unforgettable fireworks. On mild summer evenings, performances are in the open; in poor weather, the Auditorium opens its doors.
