Frank‐Peter Zimmermann: Barcelona Symphony Orchestra
Sobre o Evento
Violinist Frank‐Peter Zimmermann the and Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pablo González, will perform works by Mozart and Berlioz at the Auditori de Barcelona.
Mozart's works for violin are not a minor part of his oeuvre. Apart from the piano, the violin was the other most beloved instrument. Mozart's love for the instrument is evident in the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 in G major, KV 216, composed in 1775. We perceive an author interested in the expressive vagaries of Sturm und Drang, even in the last movement, with its Frenchified dancing style; we find a parenthesis with an Andante in a minor key with a captivating intensity.
The Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 4 in D major, KV 218, is a tribute to Luigi Boccherini’s concerto in the same key; in it, Mozart searches for the Italianate melodies that will become increasingly important in his unmatched operas. The concerto is a real paean to the melodic capacity of the instrument. An ideal vehicle to let ourselves be captivated once again by the sound of Frank Peter Zimmermann.
The Concerto in D for String Orchestra forms part of the American work by Igor Stravinsky. Composed between 1946 and 1948, it is a tribute to jazz and the new American music. Written thirty‐three years previously, The Rite of Spring is one of the fundamental works of music history for its innovations of language and concepts of sound. Created for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and having an aesthetic between primitive and avant‐garde, music lovers continue to be amazed by its originality with each new hearing.
