Dresden Festival Orchestra: Dresden Music Festival

Sobre o Evento

After its celebrated premiere in May 2012, the Dresden Festival Orchestra returns to the stage with concertmaster Giuliano Carmignola and the British conductor Ivor Bolton.

In its second concert, the orchestra returns to the golden age of the baroque era, when Dresden was a magnet for all the famous musicians of its day. Even Handel came to Dresden to hire singers for his London performances. One of the most famous among these singers was the castrato Senesino. Apart from works by Fasch, Heinichen and Vivaldi, arias composed especially for Senesino will be performed on this evening by Bejun Mehta, hailed by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as 'the most convincing countertenor in the world, in terms of vocal performance and acting'.
