Passau é uma cidade na Baixa Baviera, Baviera Oriental, Alemanha, também conhecida como Dreiflüssestadt, porque o rio Danúbio se une ao rio Inn pelo Sul, e o rio Ilz pelo Norte, saindo da floresta bávara.
Sua população é de 50.415 habitantes, dos quais cerca de 10.000 são estudantes da Universidade local de Passau. A universidade, fundada no final da década de 1970, é a extensão do (secular) Instituto de Estudos Católicos. Ele é conhecido na Alemanha por seus institutos de Economia, Direito, Ciências da Computação e Ciências Culturais.
