The Royal Albert Hall has a long and rich history as one of the world’s leading entertainment venues. Dedicated to Queen Victoria's husband and consort, Prince Albert, the Hall’s official opening ceremony took place on March 29, 1871. Situated in central London’s South Kensington district, within the area also known as Albertopolis, Royal Albert Hall constitutes part of a national monument to the Prince Consort (along with the decorative Albert Memorial, just north of Kensington Gardens).

The distinguished exterior of the Hall, inspired by the architecture of northern Italy, was built from some six million red bricks and eighty thousand blocks of decorative terracotta. Among its many architectural distinctions, visitors marvel at the Hall’s terracotta frieze of allegorical figures engaged in a range of cultural endeavors. One can also encounter here the great Henry Willis Organ – the largest organ in the United Kingdom, also known as “The Voice of Jupiter”.
