Estreada em 1830, a Symphonie Fantastique rompeu com muitas convenções musicais da época e continua sendo uma das sinfonias mais desafiadoras de se executar. Hector Berlioz inspirou‐se no seu próprio sofrimento emocional, refletindo um amor não correspondido na partitura, o que lhe confere a sua essência e originalidade.

Convidada para inaugurar esta décima temporada especial, a Orquestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, sediada em Turim, atuará sob a batuta do maestro principal Andrés Orozco‐Estrada. Numa interpretação do Concerto para Violino n.º 4 de Mozart, o mais virtuoso dos seus cinco concertos, a orquestra será acompanhada por Michael Barenboim, considerado um dos maiores violinistas contemporâneos.

Condutor, Encenação: Andrés Orozco‐Estrada

Andrés Orozco‐Estrada was born in 1977 in Medellin (Columbia). At the age of five he started to play the violin, at the age of 15 he conducted the orchestra of his Music High school. In 1992 he started to study conducting. From 1997 to 2003 he persued his conducting studies in the master class of Uros Lajovic at the Vienna Music Academy.

From 2001 to 2004 Andrés Orozco‐Estrada was elected Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Vienna's Technical University. During these years he conducted a wide range of symphonic and opera programmes, including concert and staged performances of Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Abduction from the Seraglio, The Magic Flute and Don Carlo.

Palau de la Música Catalana

The Palau de la Musica Catalana is a dazzling building situated in the northern part of Barcelona's Old Town. An architectural jewel of the Catalan Art Nouveau style, built between 1905 and 1908, its rich interior displays the work of the region's artisans in the form of stained-glass windows, ceramics, sculptures, paintings and blacksmithing. The extensive use of glass in the construction of the venue creates stunningly radiant interiors. The dusty red facade of the Palau is decorated with busts of great composers including Bach, Beethoven and Wagner, and colorful mosaics in floral patterns. The centre of the Palau is the magnificent concert hall, entirely lit by natural sunlight due to the extraordinary skylight in the centre of the richly ornate ceiling, which is popular for symphonic and chamber music. According to Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the architect who designed the Palau, the aim was to create a “garden for music” – an objective he definitely managed to achieve.
