Beethoven's Ninth: Ton Koopman & Wiener Symphoniker

Sobre o Evento

Start the New Year with Beethoven's "Ode to Joy".

Perhaps one of the most famous classical works – and deservedly so – Beethoven's ninth (and last) symphony is performed the world over, in every possible way. Wendy Carlos's version on the Moog synthesiser became the soundtrack to Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange. Each year, ten thousand Japanese choristers sing probably the world's largest version in Osaka Castle Hall.

What is it about this piece that has captured the world's imagination, and made it the European anthem?

This concert is a chance to hear the piece under the direction of a world‐famous conductor, and with the voices of some star soloists, as well as the Wiener Singakademie.
