The Lady of the Camellias: Latvian National Ballet
Over het evenement
The Latvian National Ballet presents the romantic ballet "The Lady of the Camellias" based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas set to the music of Franz Liszt.
The Lady of the Camellias tells the story of the Parisian courtesan Marguerite Gautier and her lover Armand Duval, the son of a wealthy family. Armand's father demands Marguerite leave his son, and she gives in. When the lovers meet again coincidentally some time later, she is already deathly ill with tuberculosis…
Tiit Härm: "The story of Marguerite tells us a drama of inner suffering, loneliness and love. A palette of feelings and nuances, the wide range of emotions, seeking for harmony, pain and tragedy, the endless beauty of hope, longing for love — all these expressions of human emotions affected me when making a choreographic score. I am emotionally affected also by the ability to subordinate one's wishes to interests and future of another person. It is so unusual and admirable."
