Tchaikovsky & Berlioz: Immortelles

Over het evenement

This striking program focuses on the reflection of immortal women in music. The Orchestre nationale d'Île‐de‐France and conductor Enrique Mazzola perform works by Cherubini, Berlioz, Muslant and Tchaikovsky at Salle Pleyel in Paris.

Cleopatra, Juliet, Medea and even Simone Weil: The romantic works that portray these heroines are among the most striking compositions. Drama overtakes the entire orchestra, whether or not it is guided by the emotion in a mezzo‐soprano voice as in Berlioz's composition.

Closer to our time, the philosopher Simone Weil embodies another female figure: modern, moral and stoic. She marks the complete abandonment of old stereotypes to finally admit that women can take a new position in our world. The work of Florentine Mulsant (born 1962) is a warm tribute to Weil, intimate and universal.
