Sounds of the Empire, The Tallis Scholars: Dresden Music Festival
Over het evenement
With the perfection and expressivity typical of the English choral tradition, but also with an indefatigable spirit of discovery, The Tallis Scholars have opened a new perspective on sacred music of the Renaissance, and today they are considered one of the benchmark performers in this genre.
When their trendsetting recording of Allegri’s Miserere was released in 1980, it caused a veritable boom. At the Frauenkirche, the ensemble celebrates its 40th stage anniversary by performing the highlights of its repertoire, including Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli, with which the English singers showcase the choral culture they have perfected. The multi‐faceted anniversary program concludes with William Byrd, the great Tudor‐era composer often called the English Palestrina.
