Schoenberg and the Cabaret: Weill

Over het evenement

Allow yourself the chance to appreciate the blending of music and text — serious, seditious or saucy — that gave life to the cabarets of Europe.

Schoenberg's unusual second quartet, with additional soprano, and his Eight Brettl Lieder are early examples of an art that sought to blend popular musical themes with meaningful texts. Kurt Weill's Weimar Republic partnership with Bertold Brecht perfected this craft.

Manuel Metzger: clarinet
Mirana Tutuianu: violin
Florian Maviel: violin
Anna Brugger: viola
Étienne Cardoze: cello
Anne‐Emmanuelle Davy: soprano
