This exciting and extremely flamboyant Russian program, conducted by Jukka‐Pekka Saraste, will open with a subtle murmur: that of Rachmaninov's majestic Isle of the Dead, which rises to a powerful and impressive apex.

Shostakovich's vigorous Cello Concerto No. 1, a classic in its genre performed here by Natalia Gutman, will be followed by the Third Symphony of Prokofiev, subtitled 'The Fiery Angel.'
