Rousset & Les Talens Lyriques: Salieri's The Danaides

Over het evenement

Hear the work that, overnight, turned an unknown composer into the darling of the Paris Opera!

Originally entrusted to Gluck, the libretto of The Danaides was set to music by his disciple, Antonio Salieri; it was not until the day after the opera's wildly successful premiere that Gluck revealed that the music had been penned by Salieri. One of the most remarkable scores of the late eighteenth century, this work was greatly admired by Berlioz; its intensity and its lyricism will be captured at Versailles, in a concert version, by Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques.

Guests holding tickets in the Prestige category, in addition to enjoying the best seats in the house, will be offered a glass of Champagne and a program.
